Publisher's Synopsis

Documentary tracing the bizarre true-life events of a unique 'love-affair'. While working in New York in the late 1950s, Linda Riss, an attractive receptionist in her early twenties, was spotted by local attorney Burt Pugach. Pugach, already married, was immediately struck by the receptionist's likeness to the film star Elizabeth Taylor, and asked if he could take her out. They continued seeing each other for the next year, even though Riss had discovered Pugach's guilty secret. But when she realised that he would never leave his wife, Riss, tired of being taken for granted, decided to end the relationship. Now besotted with Riss, Pugach's attempts to change her mind fell on stony ground, and when he finally learned she was to marry another, he turned to threats. Soon afterwards, he hired someone to throw potassium hydroxide in her face, scarring her for life, and blinding her in one eye. Remarkably, soon after being released from a life sentence, Pugach and Riss married, and have been together for over 30 years.
