Miles Talbot, one of the exiled King's best agents, comes to England to discover what the Parliament of the Saints knows of Royalist plots. To infiltrate Parliamentary circles, he obtains an introduction to beautiful Cherry Weston, the celebrated hostess to the rulers of the day. Miles fears that his passion for Cherry will lead to betrayal, while she is suspicious of him. But it is malice and jealousy from an unexpected source that puts Cherry into danger.
