Publisher's Synopsis
This book deals with many aspects of human life, but its only aim is to help you find the path to true happiness. Although it addresses a lot of issues in our society and the world, its focus is not on the problems but on the prevention of and the solutions to our suffering.
All of us want to be happy, but to achieve our target, we need to know where to look for happiness in the first place. Unhappiness is a consequence of our misconceptions about happiness and where to look for it, which guides us to expect to find happiness in the wrong places and hence disappointment and frustration.
Since how we love ourselves affects everything in our lives, the book starts with analyzing self-love and introduces all the factors that help guide us to love ourselves positively and wisely and find our mental equilibrium.
To cultivate the positive type of self-love, however, we need all right mental properties (i.e. Universal Love, mindfulness, self-knowledge, and a philosophical mind). Subsequently, the following 6 chapters are about all the factors that help guide us to love and respect both ourselves and others wisely and positively.
The rest of the book elaborates on why Universal Love, mindfulness, self-knowledge, and a philosophical mind can help guide us to choose wisely and live happily in all aspects of life: the governor, parenting styles, the types of agriculture, education programs and systems, and so on.
The messages in this book, at times, can be unpleasant. It challenges our ingrained beliefs and engages in self-examination especially when it comes to what we generally believe to be our love for others.
Nevertheless, the target of the book is not to judge but to make us understand ourselves and distinguish clearly between egocentrism and true giving and what we need to do to find true happiness.
