Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Contributions to Old English Lexicography
According to the explanation in Lye's preface the reference zeifr. Yl.' means Elfriei ylossm'ium ad calcem a'iotionarii G'ul. Somneri, ' but this is not quite correct. It is true, i.e. That Az'lfr. Gl, p. Does refer to the Rubens glossary printed at the end of Somner 104 the number being that of the page in S., but the simple reference [elfin gl. Without a number, or Elfi. Gl. Followed by a number but no p, ' means zelfric's glossary ww. 304-337 eg., pp. 297 Thus, for instance, deaifellen 100, zi'lfr. Gl., does not occur at all in the Rubens glossary, but corresponds to ww. 328 18. Lye's R. Refers to ms. Junius 71 (the copy of the Rubens glosses made by J unius, whence Somner printed them).
