This book is concerned with following the change in Iranian rural structure as it relates to 1962 Iranian land reform and the 1979 revolution. The most general objective is to explore the essence of class relations in IranÆs rural areas for the period between World War II and 1990. The special aim is to analyze the process of annihilation of some rural classes and the emergence and expansion of others. The book considers three phases of contemporary rural Iran. Phase one covers the content of the different modes of production articulated to each other prior to the land reform. Phase two contains the emergence of the new rural socio-economic structure. Phase three demonstrates the effect of the 1979 revolution on Iranian rural structure.
