This volume provides criticism on over 2000 new and established contemporary writers who are living or who have died since 1959. It places particular emphasis on criticism of authors who frequently appear on syllabuses of high school and college literature courses.;"Contemporary Literary Criticism" contains about 25-35 author entries per volume. There are about 600 individual excerpts per volume (about 20 per author), taken from about 100 books and several hundred issues of general magazines, literary reviews and scholarly journals.;The primary focus of "Contemporary Literary Criticism" is on novelists, dramatists, poets and short story writers. Scriptwriters and other creative writers are also evaluated from a literary perspective.
