The glairy enamel-like surface of this shell shows that. It. Is largely enveloped by the mantle of the animal; in most specimens the permanent contact of the mantle to the under surface being widely marked. It is alwavs of a peculiar fulvous-fawn or nankeen colour, sprinkled in the suture and below the angle of the whorls with bands of small square distant reddish-chestnut spots.
