The scope of the book ensures coverage of the preventive work increasingly being undertaken in general practice, and secondary care, such as assessment and management of disabled children and of child abuse. Clinical information not readily available in other medical texts is included, for instance, descriptions of the different methods of physiotherapy used to treat cerebral palsy. However, since the book's focus is community based, care of acutely ill children is omitted. Similarly, chronic
disorders, such as cystic fibrosis and diabetes, are usually managed by a hospital team and therfore only those aspects of care which are carried out in the community are dealt with. * International authorship * Detailed review of some topics not
addressed in other available community child health textbooks. * Wide ranging view of current national situation. * Wide appeal based on breadth of authorship. * Reference book, not a practical manual 'Community Paediatics' is an authoritative
resource for both qualified and trainee paediatricians, allied child health care disciplines and, increasingly, general practioners. It will be particularly useful for those working in a district child development team. Contributors' list: Adjaye,
