Publisher's Synopsis

This first volume of Collected Organ Works includes the following previously published pieces:

Three Passion Preludes, settings of well-known Lenten chorale-tunes, are inspired by specific Scripture:

  • Bicinium on the "Passion Chorale," from the mocking torment described in Matthew 27:29-30.

  • Canticle on "O Lamm Gottes," from the wondrous depiction of elders singing before the Lamb in Revelation 5:8-9.

  • Prlude-tude on "The King's Majesty," from the assuring yet fearsome prophesy of Isaiah 59:19-20.

Eight Diverse Pieces range in character from mild and introspective, suitable for worship, to entertaining and more technically demanding, for recessionals and recitals. They range in duration from one to three minutes. They include a Prelude and Fugue and multiple settings of well-known hymn-tunes "Aberystwyth" and "Ebenezer."

All pieces can be played with satisfying effect on a typical 2-manual church organ.
