Collaborative learning is learning in harmony. Collaborative learning can be performed in nearly any kind of learning environment. Many educators and students throughout history have acknowledged its benefits. The purpose of this study is to examine how collaborative learning takes place in the string quartet experience for children, and also to provide a collection of string quartet pieces and etudes for use with beginners. This study will cover several beneficial areas of collaborative learning for children through the string quartet setting including musical responsibility, motivation, and peer learning. This project will also provide recommended rehearsal techniques for the beginning level string quartet as a reference for music teachers and coaches.
