In the 1920s Southern California exploded as the greatest home-building region in the world. Beaux-Arts trained architect Gerard Colcord flourished, creating 250 estates between 1924 and 1984. Colcord created a significant architectural legacy in the Southern California residential landscape working in a variety of styles ranging from classic Tudor, Country French, Hollywood Regency, Spanish Hacienda, and Monterey Colonial to his best-known genre, sprawling Gentleman Farmhouses' or 'Country Colonials'.'
