Barnaby (Richard Dreyfuss) and Maxine (Maxine Pierce) have been together for years; but when Maxine decides that she has had enough and wants to leave Barnaby, he asks for one last chance to save their relationship. This takes the form of the journey to their son's wedding in Los Angeles - a journey which gives them the chance to reflect on their past, their family, their old friends, and old lovers.
