Publisher's Synopsis

Double bill featuring two drama movies starring Julia Roberts. 'Closer' (2004) is a story about four strangers (Roberts, Jude Law, Natalie Portman and Clive Owen), their chance meetings, instant attractions and brutal betrayals. Dan (Law) is a writer in London who wants to finish a novel, but in the meantime supports himself by writing obituaries. One day he meets Alice (Portman), a beautiful American and they immediately fall for each other. Dan initially returns her affection but soon her neediness begins to wear on him. Anna (Roberts) is a photographer who is hired to take a portrait of Dan for the dust jacket of his book. Dan becomes attracted to her but she soon meets Larry (Owen), a dermatologist, and marries him. Dan can't get Anna out of his mind even though she's married, and the two become lovers, but Dan is frustrated by the fact that Anna is reluctant to leave Larry for him. In 'Erin Brockovich' (2000), Julia Roberts plays a brassy, unemployed, twice-divorced single mother. When she is injured in a motor accident and her lawyer, Ed Masry (Albert Finney), fails to win her any compensation, her solution is to insist that Ed provides recompense by employing her at his firm. Erin's new colleagues do not take her seriously at first, but when she discovers a cover-up by a water company who have been poisoning the local community, she and Ed set out to win the victims a multi-million settlement. Based on a true story; Julia Roberts won an Oscar for her performance in the title role and the real Erin Brockovich also appears briefly in the film as a waitress.
