In a world forsaken by angels and influenced by those who remain tainted, hope is a seldom visitor in this steampunk kingdom of brass and steam. Wound like a broken machine, the gears and springs turn the giant abode of Requiem City, home to Stella Gunner, apprentice gunsmith and daughter to a merchant. Her life may be predictable, but alas she is grateful for her safety, especially when the city's ruffians reside mere steps away behind giant, locked gates. However, when her life slowly becomes unraveled, she soon discovers not everything is as mundane or safe as she originally thought. This broken city of hierarchy and status is indeed as dangerous for her, as it is to those she wrongfully fears. Soon, she gathers allies, embarks in illegal smuggling, and miraculously gains an angelic friend to accompany her with a blessed purpose. However, this risky life comes with a dreaded warning for Stella concerning her newly acquired gifts... when the clock on her wrist strikes midnight, her time in this world expires.
