Publisher's Synopsis
Jan Schlichtmann (John Travolta) is a cynical personal injury attorney more concerned with personal profit than justice. Despite his reputation for only taking on big-money cases which he can settle out of court, Schlichtmann agrees to take on the case of Anne Anderson (Kathleen Quinlan), a mother whose child was diagnosed with leukaemia after a local well was contaminated. Schlichtmann faces a battle merely to get the case to court, with the factory lawyers using all of their corporate might to manipulate the legal system to their advantage.
