Both versions of Guiseppe Tornatore's film - the director's cut has an extra 50 minutes of footage. After receiving news of his mother's illness, a famous movie director returns after 30 years to his Sicilian home village and recalls his childhood, his fascination with films and the local cinema, and the projectionist, Alfredo, whom he befriended.
