Publisher's Synopsis
Hermon, Maine and Big Spring, Texas. 1987. A portal in each town opened to a new realm. Mick and his group of friends discover a portal in Hermon, while Jerusha and her workmates, who go by SRT (Supernatural Research Team), encounter a portal in Big Spring. Mick's group stumbles across the portal by accident and witnesses a grisly creature, a being not of this world. Jerusha and the SRT is on a mission to find the exact creature that Mick and his pals stumbled across. As of now, neither group knows of the others existence.
Once the two groups exchange information, they combine forces to get rid of the portals. They discover the Chupacabra travels by portal-hopping. Thanks to the Particle Hindrance Decimator (or, as known in the book, the PHD) that closes off the portals, they feel as though they won the battle by trapping the 12-foot beast in its own world. Unknowingly to them, a baby Chupacabra snuck into our world, eager to discover our environment. It was not the beast's intention to enter a lab and fall into a giant cylinder made up of 2,000 types of hazardous chemicals, causing it to mutate and grow about fifty-feet tall. The SRT is operated from a facility known as Moonscar Lab Inc. The CEO, Hans, is up his neck in trouble now that the Chupacabra broke free from the facility. The ginormous beast is heading towards the city of Bangor, meaning Hans, the SRT, and Mick and his gang must stop the Chupacabra from entering the city. However, the Chupacabra has powers that can open up the realm between our world and the Chupacabra's world. Even with its powers, it does suffer from one weakness; a peanut allergy. Once Hans and the others feel that they're about to kill off the Chupacabra, a new beast enters and doubles up the mayhem. Cutting the Chupacabra off from entering the city is no longer part of the plan as the new beast infiltrates their strategy. Luckily for them, Hans's father joins in the war between beast and man. As in all wars, great people end up dying in the process. Now, with their ample number of weapons and peanut oil, they attempt to save the city, and possibly the world, from the other-worldly creatures.
