This is an alphabetically-arranged encyclopaedia for children from 7 to 12. Whilst volume 19 contains an atlas of colour maps with a 32-page index of places, Volume 20 is an index of 30,000 entries, many giving facts in brief. The first edition was published in 1960. The encyclopaedia was redesigned, reset and made more international in coverage for the 4th edition in 1988, and since then has been revised annually. For this 1991 revised printing 87 articles were rewritten or revised and 190 others were updated.
