The narrator of this story remembers his childhood during World War II, first in Milan and then in the countryside, where he was evacuated along with other children. Schoolhouse lessons, brotherly complicity, the first bombings, summer camp, his relationship with his father, and the discovery of love are all recreated in a series of lively vignettes. The harshness of war and the separation of a family are juxtaposed with the awakening of senses and the intuition of pleasures yet to be discovered, but more importantly to the belief in life and the future.
El narrador de esta historia rememora su infancia durante la segunda guerra mundial, primero en Milán y después en el campo, al cual es evacuado junto a otros niños.
