Publisher's Synopsis
This volume addresses questions on the formation and stability of nanoscale microstructures, and the reasons for their unusual behaviour. Coverage includes the thermodynamics, atomic level structure, and atomic transport properties of nanocrystalline and related materials, such as amorphous alloys and multilayer structures.;Materials with microstructual features on the nanometer scale often exhibit unusual behaviours. Such materials are generally far from equilibrium and undergo irreversible changes upon heating. There is now considerable interest in understanding and controlling propoerties, morphologies and phase transformations of these non-equilibrium materials.
