Diderot donc reste, invincible, suffisant à tout, ani mant les collaborateurs fidèles, et, la tempète passée, en 1765, il publie d'un coup les dix derniers volumes de texte et les cinq premiers de planches. De 1765 à 1772 paraissent les six derniers volumes de planches. L'entreprise a rapporté aux éditeurs plus de deux mil lions et à Diderot cent pistoles (mille francs) de rente.
