Thomas is sent south by his father, a New York cotton broker to buy as much cotton as possible. "Cotton is King" and everyone needs it for the war effort!
Amanda's father joins forces with Thomas's father to corner the Charleston cotton market. If successful, they will become extremely rich, but Amanda's father walks a fine line between treason or loyalty!
Meanwhile, Thomas meets Amanda, Mr. Stuart's daughter. Thomas courts, falls in love and marries beautiful Amanda. Circumstances however, place both Amanda and Thomas in danger! Will their Moment in Time survive?
