Publisher's Synopsis
Poetry is one of mankind's oldest and most enduring ways to express himself and his feelings. It can speak volumes about love or sorrow, war and wrath. Inside this book are many different poems that look at life from a viewpoint many are uncomfortable associating with. Deep depression. Nihilism. Anger. Political dissatisfaction. Societal dissociation.Written in 2005 and 2006 during a particularly dark part of my life, these words tell a story of someone who desperately wants to isolate himself from the world. Some read almost like suicide notes. All are as valid now as they were over a decade ago when they were written. The words contained between these covers were conceived as lyrics for heavy metal songs, inspired greatly by W.A.S.P. during their K.F.D. stage. In some ways, the words came out therapeutically to help weather the constant storms living in south Florida caused in my life.Particular titles such as "Sunshine", "Swansong", and "All Fall Down" with their apocalyptic imagery show a side rarely ever shown publicly. But they remain part of who I am. Once you've read these poems and tried to understand what is being said, maybe some deeper knowledge of my self can be seen.CHARCOAL SOUL delves into several depths of my personality. I truly believe my soul has grown dark because of what I've been subjected to since childhood. This is me. This is who I am.Until something darker comes along...
