Publisher's Synopsis

Cement evaluation logs are recorded in every well to estimate the sealing properties of the cement column between casing and formation, before this well is perforated for production or abandoned. The primary use of any cement evaluation log is to try and improve the primary cement job on the next well of the same kind and not to decide to perform a cement remedial job on the current well.;Cement evaluation logs are first of all visual and no reprocessing is done in a computing centre. The user's eyes must be trained to quickly detect reading anomalies and consequently to define the most probable interpretations in terms of either void of cement or tool artifact or poor recording. Therefore quality of the raw data at the well site is essential.;The aim of this handbook is to simplify the validation and the interpretation of cement evaluation logs at the well site thanks to numerous examples and based on ready-made sheets experience. Procedures of acquisition are also detailed regarding services from the world's three leading logging companies: Schlumberger, Halliburton Logging and Western Atlas, to enhance the pertinence of the answer.
