I would take exception to a few of his derivations of the place-names of Stirlingshire. He invites, as I said, criticism and diversity of opinion, in recogni tion, I suppose, of the saying that two heads are better than one, and if my alternative meanings for a tew of the place-names do not seem final, united conclusions may enable a third party to see the solution we fail to find.
