Young doctor Marlee McCowan in building a career as a child psychiatrist when she accidentally runs down a handsome ex-serviceman on the way to work. He is homeless and broke, so she takes him under her wing. But this relationship begins to become more than accidental as they discover their feelings for each other go deeper. Marlee faces challenges and even risk in her hospital workplace. Her love interest Sgt. Daniel Briar takes jobs that are downright dangerous--fighting forest fires, working as a private investigator hoping to crack an arson case. They begin to realize they want to protect and care for each other and begin to accept that there is a new possibility for a happer life together and decide to see how to make that happen.
