Excerpt from Catalogue of the 105th Annual Exhibition: January 23 to March 20, 1910

The Mary Smith Prize of One Hundred mary smith Dollars, founded by the late Russell Smith, m will this year be awarded by; the Exhibition Committee for the thirty-second time. According to the modified terms, the prize will be awarded: to the Painter of the best painting (not excluding portraits) exhibiting at the Academy, painted by a resident woman Artist, for qualities ranking as follows: Ist, Originality of Subject; 2d, Beauty of Design or Drawing; 3d, Color and Effect; and, lastly, Execufion. The Academy will have no claim on the paint ing. The same Artist may not receive the prize twice in succession, nor more than twice in all.
