Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Catalogue of St. Louis University, St. Louis, Mo., 1889-90

The corner-stone of St. Francis Xavier Church was laid with great solemnity in the spring of 1840. On Palm Sunday, 1843, the sacred edifice opened its doors for public services.

Many additions were in the course of time made to the original building. An account of them, together with many inter esting reminiscences will be found in Rev. Walter H. Hill's Historical Sketches of St. Louis University.
