Frederick Ballard Williams was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1871. He studied at the Cooper Union and National Academy of Design schools. Member: National Academy of Design, 1909, New York Watercolor Club, Lotus Club, Salmagundi Club; National Art Club; New York Society of Painters; Awards Bronze medal, pan-american Exposition, Inness Prize, Salma gundi Club, 1898, Isidor gold medal, National Academy of Design, 1909, President, Salmagundi Club, 1914 to 1919, President, Mont clair Art Association. He is represented in the permanent col lections of the National Museum, Washington, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the public galleries of Buffalo, Brooklyn, Muskegon, St. Louis, Dallas, New Haven and New Britain. The present collection 18 the result of a summer of work along the old Camino Del Real, in California, from San Diego to the Golden Gate and back into the high Sierras.
