It is 1947, and Cassie is thrust into a strange new environment when she inherits her dead Uncle's Montana ranch, a man she has known for only two short years. She is left with a working ranch, and an outraged foreman who doesn't trust her, and likes her even less; a man she is required to spend time with and learn from, as she tries to grasp the workings of a cattle ranch life. When she discovers her neighbor and new-found friend's husband is abusive, she tries to lend a helping hand. Can she indeed keep this small family safe from harm's way? Spiritual growth seems to evade her, and becoming the Christian woman her heart desires her to be seems just out of her reach.
