Publisher's Synopsis
Mergers and acquisitions are an increasingly important aspect of doing business in the United States and abroad. Business students and the libraries that serve them have expressed a need for case studies of the most notable corporate mergers and acquisitions. Gale meets that need by developing a product that fills the gap between general handbook information and the specific studies of individual corporate mergers or acquisitions available in monographs.;Approximately 300 entries are arranged alphabetically by the name of the resulting company. The focus is on this century's merger and acquisitions activity where at least one participant is a US-based corporation. Each 2500 word entry contains three basic parts: brief background information; a summary of major players; and the main essay.;Each essay entry provides background information on the companies involved, including: an activity overview covering financial details such as stock prices, bond ratings, revenue and marketshare; how the merger/acquisition happened and the activity's driving market forces; resulting industry changes; and a review of the outcome.
