Within the same length as the Fourth Edition, the Fifth Edition updates the treatment of the usual topics and slightly rearranges the structure. A new chapter presents background on undeveloped topics such as piracy, the Deepwater Horizon casualty, and the Rotterdam Rules. The editors have sought to keep the Fifth Edition comfortable for long-time users and to make it accessible to new users.
