Publisher's Synopsis
Nursing costs and quality are central to the effective operation of the NHS, yet many practitioners find it difficult to evaluate the effects of changes in nurses' employment and deployment. This book updates the 1991 review of research on the value of nursing. It examines published research which evaluates the costs and/or benefits of employing registered nursing staff. The report also presents the results of a national survey of nurse directors which explores changing aspects of nurses' employments and deployment, and which considers the effects of such changes on the costs and quality of nursing care.
