Since ancient cultures first discovered the remote Warner Valley in south central Oregon, in what is now high desert, the people found sustenance and shelter to their liking in the highlands and along the shore around the 300-foot deep Lake Warner that filled that 60 mile valley at the end of the last Ice Age. Over thousands of years, as that lake receded and left several shallow remnant lakes behind, the people continued to hunt and fish around Crump Lake and the other lakes in the valley. This continued for 12,000 years and more, up until the late 1800's. Here are authentic artifacts from those cultural groups: stone tools and hunting weapons which served them so well for so long.
