We may be advancing in a career that is going to take more and more of our time for Christ. We may be pursuing an education that will lead to a career, which demands that we work 60-80 hours a week, like an attorney. If this life were all that there is, this type of behavior would make sense. However, if there is "a life that is real" (1 Tim 6:19), an eternal life on the other side of Armageddon, what sense does it make to invest 70-90 percent of our time on this side, advancing in a world of wicked humanity, which will eventually be destroyed? As Jesus said, "No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money." (Matt. 6:24) Again, is your eye healthy, and would it not be prudent to do a self-analysis?
