The Doctrine of God is one of the most exciting studies we can undertake. It is amazing to think that Almighty God - Creator of the heavens and the earth - has taken the time to reveal Himself to the people He created. We learn from the story of creation that He made people to fellowship with Himself. This is our primary purpose. Adam was created for the purpose of fellowship, not primarily to be a gardener. His purpose was to "know God" - his assignment "to make Him known." There can be no greater focus in life than to know God. It is important to realize, however, that we can know nothing about God except that which He chooses to reveal of Himself. Our human, finite minds cannot grasp His greatness and we need to pay close attention to His revelation of Himself in the Bible. The study of our Lord Jesus Christ, His Person and Work, is one of the most important themes in the Bible. HISTORY is HIS STORY. The Coming of MESSIAH was prophesied in great detail thousands of years before the physical birth of Jesus, the Christ. Literally hundreds of prophecies were required to be fulfilled by the One who laid claim to the title. To fulfill just eight of them by chance or coincidence is practically impossible. The probability has been estimated as one in ten to the seventeenth power, i.e. one with seventeen zeros. This is a number so big that we cannot even begin to comprehend it. Imagine an area the size of London being covered two feet deep in Euro coins. Somewhere out there in the middle of those coins is one with a red dot on it. Imagine a blindfolded person being given only one chance to pick up the marked coin. That will give you some idea of the improbability of the situation. Jesus Christ fulfilled all of these prophecies in minute detail, bringing the odds to an even more impossible number. No one could have organized that, but God Himself. Not only did Christ fulfill hundreds of prophecies relating to the events of His First Coming to earth, but He is about to fulfill many more with His Return. What an exciting event to look forward to. He is Lord and Savior indeed.
