As a person from non-English speaking country, I struggled both during my school & college days in communicating well with the people. Despite trying to speak in English, I would quickly switch back to my native language, Hindi. This created a lot of problems for me, and I decided to make a change in my life and learn the language.
As a next step, I studied hard to understand the language and practice it with people so I can become comfortable. The process was think in Hindi, translate into English, and speak it up. The reverse process was, translate what other person said in English into Hindi, then think of an answer in Hindi, translate, speak, rinse, repeat!
While initial days were full of struggle, I eventually came to a point where I was able to think & speak in English fluently, and the process of translation went away.
After many years working, I realized although I was speaking English, but there were a lot of words I won't understand and hence won't use, and hence my English was basic, hampering my business communications as it seemed non-professional. I even got feedback from my manager that even the documents you write, read as if you are speaking.
I started watching videos and found there are so many people in the world who struggle with the same challenge. My goal was simple, improve my vocabulary to add business communication words, so when I start using them in my communication, I sound more professional and clear in my thoughts as well.
With that approach, I started building my vocabulary, targeting first 100 words to learn. This book is those first 100 words. If you are struggling with the same challenge, this book will be your great friend.
This book, and the first 100 words focus on the very basic business communication words that you MUST know. You might already know some of the words, but might not be using them effectively.
My goal with this book is very simple. You learn these words, and each day, you pick the word, and make sure to use that word through your day. Try and find opportunities where you can use that word, and use it effectively.
By the end of the book, you will be comfortable in using all these words, and they will become natural.
Whatever I collect from this one, will go into publishing my future books, which will get you to more advanced vocabulary, and communicate like CEOs, VPs, and Directors do.
