Publisher's Synopsis
Everyone in the ancient borough of Corbury was happily anticipating the town's millenary celebration, except Bernard Lister. A singularly unpleasant citizen, he spent his days devising ways to get even with the snooty cousins who nicknamed him 'Blister', with the town where he so unhappily grew up, and with the rowdy students in the flat upstairs. So, not surprisingly, somebody murdered him. It was up to Detective Superintendent Pollard to determine who did it ... and to deduce the fatal significance of a ransacked apartment, a paper hidden in an edition of Framley Parsonage, and an historic error in the Corbury town charter.
