Publisher's Synopsis

It's said that the civil rights movement is all but dead. Change has come to America and we now have a black President. I see more minorities prosper to enjoy the "American Dream" this great country has to offer. But, I must ask myself how many of us really believe we all as Americans have the basic freedom to prosper. For many of us we must simply seek to accept contentment yet, even under the protection of unions we find deception and corruption. In most cases leaders and those who would be leaders seek to protect their constituents. However, one act of deception can lead to other acts of deception which can lead to an illegal act. In a union situation, members for the most part are not allowed to negotiate their own agreements. It is my belief that in the retail industry the racial profiling of employees is being utilized to weaken unions. Some may argue that the diversity is a matter of economics and not racially motivated. I believe it can be both. I do not believe the placement of some minorities in preferable position permits anyone to turn a blind eye to the overall discriminatory results. It is for that reason the Civil Rights movement must live
