Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from Branch of Research: Monthly Report of Forest Experiment Stations, Forest Products, Forest Economics, Range Research; October, 1930

At Kane, Pennsylvania, the possibilities of undertaking immediate improvement on the Kane experimental forest were considered, and a Site for the proposed laboratory and headquarters building was tentatively chosen. Should funds became available, it will be possible to undertake a road improvement and building construction within the next nine months. The virgin hemlock on East Tionesta Creek proved to be something of a revelation to Munns, and some of the beech he felt to be superior to what he had seen in Europe. Munns and Forbes returned to Philadelphia via the anthracite coal region, where the fire damage of the past summer was particularly apparent.
