Publisher's Synopsis
Two young friends are impressed with the soldiers marching through town and are eager to join up. It's 1940 and the recruiting officer is keen to replace his depleting numbers, casualties had been high and despite knowing the boys are underage signs them up. After basic training they are posted overseas where they witness the horrors of war. Death is everywhere and the boys take consolation in each other. The danger and fear bring out secreted feelings between them and their friendship takes an unexpected turn. Their bravery and courage is recognised and promotion is rapid but so is their responsibility but what is amazing is their unexpected alliance with a soldier from the other side.
