At a dinner this month at the Harvard Club it was announced that Maurice F. Whalen of Newton had been appointed Regional Executive of New England for the uso.
Mr. Whalen was born in Newburyport, graduated in 1933 and has taken post graduate courses in education, organization guidance and counseling at the Graduate School, Boston University Graduate School of Education, Fitchburg State Teachers College and Harvard University. For seven years Mr. Whalen was educational advisor with the Civilian Conservation Corps. In 1941 he was appointed to the staff of the National Catholic Community Service, a member organization of uso, as uso Club Director in Lowell. His first Regional. Staff position was Area Representative in the Myles Standish district. Mr. Whalen has been serving uso as Associate Regional Executive since March, 1943, and this new position is the highest uso executive position in New England.
