Publisher's Synopsis
Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor star in this drama adapted for the screen by Tennessee Williams from his 1963 play 'The Milk Train Doesn't Stop Here Anymore'. Sissy Goforth (Taylor) is a terminally ill, washed-up high society widow who has outlived no fewer than six husbands and is now in the process of completing her autobiography before her final curtain call. When dashing poet Chris Flanders (Burton) turns up in her clifftop death chamber, the pair embark on a liaison different from anything Sissy has known before. Noel Coward appears (in a role Williams originally intended to be played by a woman) as the mysterious Witch of Capri, a strange creature who has had so many blood transfusions over the years that he no longer has a single drop of his own blood left in his body.
