Publisher's Synopsis
This volume contains poems on a variety of subjects, led by romantic narratives involving two faculty members at a small New England college, a young artist and her mentor, and two teenagers who believe in traditional courtship, respectively. Among the other entries are a political commentary, targets being a president and the Supreme Court, a tribute to the housecat, a cynical vision of college professors ("Disposable Commodities"), invasion of a jungle from the animals' point of view, a balanced look at the seasons, and an evening in a plain restaurant from the standpoint of an Edward Hopper painting. It is worth noting that the poet uses traditional meter and forms.
