When Branson Turaco's daughter Madeline disappeared, he became the sole suspect in an unspeakable crime. His life dissolved around him- leaving him isolated, lonely, and angry. His family collapsed. But when a lock of Madeline's hair is discovered in the home of a child predator, Branson begins a descent into revenge, murder, and cosmic horror that he could not have imagined. He purchases an unlicensed handgun, enlists the help of a disgraced film director and a desperate intern, and heads out onto the open road.
The trail he uncovers takes him on an uncontrolled spiral through desert cultists, post-human assassins with luminescent skin, and a seafaring colony of madmen with a symbiotic relationship with an unearthly species of eel. Trapped in a world of uncontrollable psychedelic substances and terrifying body transformations, Branson must decided how long he's willing to stare into the abyss in order to solve Madeline's disappearance. What remains of a man who sheds his humanity in the pursuit of vengeance?
