Publisher's Synopsis
Homicide Detective Ted D'Aquin took leave from the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's office to lead the search for his wife, a probation officer who failed to return from a routine visit in the field. After a year and a half without success, Ted returns to work. When his ten-year-old son Andre gaffs a body while crabbing in Catahoula Lake with his grandfather, and a prominent citizen takes revenge on a black yardman for the killing of his wife, Ted and his partner Lorraine LaSalle plunge into two homicide investigations fraught with mystery, danger, and new love. Special Assistant District Attorney Dennis Byrne guides them in the collection of evidence and they guide him in the idiosyncrasies of St. Martin Parish.
