Publisher's Synopsis

Blood-Stained Dreams is the story of Jamal Grimes, a college student from Detroit who has to return home from school after his financial aid gets cut. Upon returning to Detroit, Jamal is convinced by his cousin Reginald (aka Snag) to hustle in the streets and make fast money. Jamal begins hustling for a guy named Donte in order to get back to college and reunite with his girlfriend, Michelle, who is back at school. Unfortunately, when Jamal makes a surprise visit to see Michelle, he discovers that she has a new boyfriend who is a major drug supplier. Jamal confronts Michelle and her new boyfriend, which results in Jamal and Snag robbing and inadvertently killing the man. Fearful of getting caught for the robbery/homicide, Jamal and Snag take their robbery money and flee to Las Vegas temporarily. When Jamal and Snag return to Detroit, they fall out with their boss, Donte, and end up killing him as well. Fueled by greed, Jamal and Snag decide to rob Donte's supplier, and this robbery spawns several other robbery/homicides. Jamal and Snag eventually become nationally wanted criminals that the media dubs, The Dope-Boy Vigilantes (DBV). Blood-Stained Dreams is a grim tale about how a series of unfortunate situations can cause a good kid to go very bad while chasing the American dream.
