Caught between two cultures vying for control of the wilderness, young Thomas Theroux is pushed onto the trail to manhood after a routine trading post visit on the Saskatchewan frontier goes horribly wrong. Pursued by a rival tribe bent on extinguishing the remains of his family, Thomas must weave his way through the fortune seekers pouring into the territory, hostile natives, and the violent landscape itself to carry on his father's dream of thriving in the new territory.
