Publisher's Synopsis
A book I wrote while exploring some of my Scottish and Irish ancestors, including myths and tales associated with some of their names, one being a black-cloaked cleric( Dubside/Black Fairy), who shares my mother's maiden name, Mac Fee, on an Isle where Druids were banished. It also explores some of the misinformation surrounding St. Patrick and St. Oran, and a complicated history often steeped in partly fabricated stories or the grafting upon earlier pagan sources, such as Oran with Bran or even a Druid with that same name. In the end, it is about an American exploring maternal ancestors, while taking a look at her own practices and trying to mesh that with identify and purpose. As a child of a Protestant and a Catholic, and yet who is personally what would have been driven out of Ireland, my interest here is an exploration of self and the healing of the pains of division while writing books from my center, which weaves the past, present and future into a vision from which to voice itself. Time is a great story teller and so is that which comes out of our depths to be told.
