Publisher's Synopsis
In this, her earliest surviving sketchbook, dating from 2006-2007, the late Hypermodern artist Mary Church shows the evolution of her art from Abstract Expressionism to the development of her own unique style of "biomorphic" surrealist art. In a complete eschewing of postmodern irony, this young and precocious 14 year old artist rummages through the scrapheap-crawling over fallen columns, broken statues and ruined mortices-of our junked and deconstructed Western signifiers, in quest of her own Laocoons and Farnese Atlases with which to use as bricks to construct a new hyper-millenial cosmology that would provide meaning and purpose to an entire generation of "lost" millennials. This book is a complete facsimile of every page of that sketchbook, IN FULL COLOR, which chronicles the initial stages of her 14 year long odyssey through the dismantled signifiers of the Western tradition.
